Breaking the cycle of poverty through education
It’s no secret that Somalia is one of the poorest countries in the world. But what’s lesser known is that this poverty is largely perpetuated by a lack of access to education. Only about 30% of Somali children attend primary school, and just 10% attend secondary school. This leaves a massive number of kids without the tools they need to break out of the cycle of poverty.
But there is hope. The Harhaar school project is working to build schools and give Somalia’s children the education they need to succeed. By providing children with access to quality education, we can help them break out of the poverty trap and create a bright future for themselves and their families.
Education is critical for breaking the cycle of poverty. It not only provides children with the skills they need to find good jobs, but it also instills in them the confidence and hope that they can make something of their lives. Education opens up new worlds for children and helps them see that there are opportunities beyond what they might see in their current circumstances.
In addition, education also empowers women and girls, who are often the most disadvantaged members of society. When girls receive an education, they are more likely to marry later and have fewer, healthier children. They are also more likely to earn higher incomes and be less reliant on aid. In short, an investment in girls’ education is an investment in a brighter future for all.
The Harhaar school project is working to ensure that all Somali children have access to quality education. We are currently building schools in some of the most remote and underserved regions of Somalia, with a goal of reaching 10,000 students by 2025. We believe that every child deserves an opportunity to learn and grow, regardless of where they come from or how much money their family has.
Education is one of the most powerful tools we have for breaking the cycle of poverty. By investing in education, we can empower Somali children to create a bright future for themselves and their families. Presently, the Harhaar school project is working to build schools and provide quality education to underserved regions of Somalia. With your support, we can reach our goal of 10,000 students by 2025!
